Emergency

Police

The following are the appointed officers for Burham and the adjacent villages:

PCSO Ms Georgia Marshall: 101

Community Warden: 07813 694140

To contact the police for non-emergency matters: 101

In the case of a genuine emergency: 999

Defibrillator information

The defibrillator is situated on the outside wall of the Parish Office, Rochester Road, Burham ME1 3RJ near to the recycling site. In case of emergency, please dial 999 and explain the situation. If the 999 operator is of the opinion that the equipment could be helpful, then a code for the equipment box will be issued. Once the outside box has been opened, the equipment can be removed and used. It “speaks” to guide the user on how to operate the equipment.

The defibrillator was installed in November 2014. The equipment itself was donated after Georgina Nicolettos, assistant to Chatham and Aylesford MP Tracey Crouch, after running the London Marathon in April 2014 to raise funding for defibrillators locally. The casing required to house the equipment was purchased with the generous funding of local residents and local companies.

A 2nd Defibrillator has been installed at the Garage, between the shutter doors of the workshop.

The black lidded refuse bin is for non-recyclable waste including drink and food cartons, plastic bags, nappies and sanitary items, crisp packets/sweets wrappers.

Recycling

Village Recycling Centre

The Recycling Area in Burham village is provided / operated by:  All Recycle Clothing, and Burham Parish Council.

In May 2024, the recycling banks for cans/glass and plastics was removed by TMBC. These items can be recycled by using the green box and green lidded bin which each household now has ie kerbside collection. Green box can take cardboard and paper. Green lidded bin can take all other recyclables including glass and plastics.

Clothing, Books and CDs – funds are generated from the clothing per kg.

Cardboard and Paper (DS Smith): This bank was removed late June as a massive increase in exchange costs deemed the service unviable. Cardboard and paper can be placed in your green box which is collected by TMBC Contractors.

The clothing bank is sited adjacent to the Village Hall. Please do not leave household rubbish or any other items in this area! Any items left are considered as fly tipping, details will be notified to TMBC who have the authority to issue a £400 fixed penalty notice.
